Common Sunflower is an erect, annual forb, found common on loam or clay soils in a diverse array of habitat in the Rio Grande Plains and Coastal Prairies. The seeds produced by Common Sunflower are consumed by bobwhite quail, mourning and white-winged doves, and Rio Grande turkeys. The leaves are browsed by white-tailed deer and chachalacas.
