Dayflowers are perennial forbs found common on various soil types in prairies, openings, stream bottoms, pastures, and woods throughout the Coastal Prairies and Rio Grande Plains. The leaves and stems are an important browse for white-tailed deer and cattle. The seeds are consumed by bobwhite quail, white-winged and mourning doves.
