Plant Type:
Shrubs
Mexican Olive is a minor component of the brush country that is locally common in drier soils primarilly in the southern Rio Grande Plains because of the plants inability to tolerate colder climate.  Mexican Olive's fruit is consumed by cattle, white-tailed deer and javelinas and various birds use the tree for nesting sites.
