David Winfield Killam
David W. Killam was born in Laredo, Texas, and is a graduate of the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut; the University of Texas at Austin; and Texas Christian University’s Ranch Management School.
A South Texas rancher, David raises cattle on the Killam “Ortiz” Ranch in Webb County and the Killam Freer Ranch in Duval County, as well as on ranches in Nebraska and Montana. He is also actively involved in oil and gas exploration and real estate development and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Killam Oil Co. and Killam Ranch Properties, Ltd.
David is the Past Chairman of the Board and a current member of the Executive Committee of the Texas Oil & Gas Association. He is an Emeritus Director of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and a former director of the Webb Soil and Water Conservation District, Zone III. He is also a member of All American Wildcatters and the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Organization.
He is a recipient of the State Wildlife Conservation Award. The Killam Freer Ranch has received multiple honors, including the Regional Land Steward Award from Texas Parks and Wildlife, the Regional Stewardship Award from the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, and the prestigious Aldo Leopold Award for excellence in habitat management.
David has two sons, Radcliffe II and David Winfield, Jr., and four grandchildren: Oliver Winfield Killam, Charlotte Grace Killam, Erik Radcliffe Killam, and Taylor Winfield Killam.
