Carnivore research is Katherine’s passion! She received her Bachelor of Science from Eastern Michigan University with honors in 2016. Katherine, through volunteer and internship opportunities, aided urban ecology research of spotted hyena in Malawi and worked with captive felid species at The Wildcat Sanctuary. Katherine completed her master’s course in Endangered Species Recovery and Conservation in 2021 at Nottingham Trent University, UK. Her Masters work focused on the impacts of domestic dog activity on sympatric Carpathian large carnivores. Katherine has worked on tracking and monitoring of eastern wild turkey, Region 5 Carnivore Monitoring Program in the Sierra Nevada targeting pine marten and endangered fisher, and a large-scale occupancy study of six mesocarnivores across Southern Illinois. Katherine is excited to join the SPEC Lab, applying her knowledge and skills towards ocelot recovery in South Texas.
