Comparison of Seasonal Patch Burning in Cordgrass Communities on Livestock Distribution and Forage Nutrition
Serving Since

Victoria Haynes is currently completing a Master’s of Science in Range and Wildlife Science at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.  She was born and raised in Victoria, Texas and completed a Bachelor of Science at Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2015. Her research on the East Foundation’s El Sauz Ranch will concentrate on monitoring the movement and foraging behavior of the livestock and wildlife within and around prescribed burned and non-burned patches within cordgrass communities.    She will also be analyzing nutritional content of gulf cordgrass and seacoast bluestem within the burned and non-burned patches.  For two consecutive years, each winter and summer season, two discrete plots will be burned beginning winter 2015 to create a mosaic of treated patches of differing ages or time since burning.
