W.W. “Whit” Jones III

W.W. “Whit” Jones III is a sixth generation Texan and a fifth-generation rancher from Jim Hogg County who was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. Jones has more than 20 years managing family ranches and running ranching enterprises. His objectives are to responsibly and successfully manage rural land assets to their fullest potential for the purpose of long-term ownership and to do this with the consistent theme of stewardship of land and love of family. He resides with his wife Sarah and their three children in Agua Nueva, Texas on their family ranch. Jones attended school at Texas A&M Kingsville then Texas Christian University. He serves as a Director of the First National Bank of Hebbronville, Director of Mestena Oil and Gas, Chairman of South Texans Property Rights Association, Director of Texas Wildlife Association, Director and Vise President of The Council for South Texas Economic Progress, Director of the Texas State Historical Association, member of The Philosophical Society of Texas and manager of Jones Ranch LLC. In addition to ranching, Jones practices Ranch Real Estate with a focus on rural property investments and sales in and around the South Texas area. Through this Jones strives to provide a service of knowledge and protection to land investors for the purpose of reducing risk and ensuring sound investments. His proudest achievements have been the redevelopment of historic ranches, the protection of native grass lands and the improvement of habitat and wildlife through ranch building. Jones’s passions are his family and the outdoors. His work is his greatest enjoyment, and he feels blessed with the ability to fulfill his passions and enjoyments daily. Jones is grateful for the experiences he has been given, and he tries to share his knowledge and time by serving on boards that help protect the things he loves. Besides his day-to-day job of trading land, cattle, and managing ranches, Jones has commissioned a family history book to be written and has formed and managed an alliance that would take on one of the largest power companies in the country for the protection of open space. Jones has worked alongside our leaders in Austin in efforts to protect our state’s wildlife. He has and continues to work with college level students in the name of ecology and biology. Through Jones’s experiences with ranching and family heritage, he has gained deep respect for the history and heritage of our great state.
