Red grama is a common, low growing native grass on fine textured soils in south Texas. Red grama collections from south Texas have been extensively tested for potential use on highway rights-of-way by STN. Collections screened to date have poor seed fill and low active seed germination, making development and commercial production impractical. Red grama has limited value to livestock or wildlife.
