Mountain Laurel is a evergreen shrub or sometimes tree with dense, dark green, glossy foliage.  Mountain Laurel is frequent throughout South Texas, mostly on shallow, gravelly, limestone, or caliche soils in the Trans-Pecos and southern Edwards Plateau.  The seeds and leaves are toxic to humas, livestock, and wildlife.
