Volunteer Product Accessibility Template (VPAT)

Volunteer Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) & Electronic and Information Resources (EIR)

June 2023 - We no longer process the VPAT/EIR thru Ellucian Workflow

The VPAT is a template used to document a product's conformance with accessibility standards and guidelines.  The purpose of the Accessibility Conformance Report is to assist customers and buyers in making preliminary assessments regarding the availability of commercial products and services with features that support accessibility for those with disabilities.

EIR is an acronym for "Electronic and Information Resources, a broad term which encompasses hardware, software, websites, subscription databases, printers, and faxes, etc.

If it's IT, and it has a user interface, it is EIR.

NOTE: You will not be allowed to upload any software on TAMUK computers until either the VPAT or EIR is in place.

BEFORE you download/purchase software:

  • Contact the vendor, via email, and ask them if they have a VPAT in place.  You will forward the email response to Sandy Fischer.
  • If the Vendor DOES NOT have a VPAT, then you will forward that response to Sandy Fischer and she will get you started on preparing the EIR to submit to our IT department.
  • You will complete the EIR form and submit that to Sandy Fischer and she will begin the workflow to permit the use of the software, or other products.
  • The EIR process is now electronic and you will receive email notices of its routing/approval. ITech is also receiving these notices and they will know that your software has been approved.
  • OR you may follow the link below to process your own EIR, but BE AWARE, this will leave Sandy Fischer out of the loop and you will be responsible for all follow-up and annual renewals.
